Spring Retainer Valve Guide Clearance |
I added a document to my porting and polishing page which is based on my experience.
I measured the clearance between my valve guide and spring retainer last night and found it to be 0.025" which is fairly tight. It would work as long as there is no moment or bounce in the system, or at low revs. It was recommended that I have 1.5mm(~0.060") of clearance here. To accomplish this I have decided to press the guides further into the block. It was also recommended that I make a couple of punch marks on the outside of the valve guides to stop them from slowly working their way down into the head. I agree with this and will make 3 or 4 marks on each guide.
Todays work however turns back to the rad.
